Lots of Countries Are Getting Fast Internet

500x internetconnections Lots of Countries Are Getting Fast Internet

According to Akamai’s quarterly State of the Internet report which was released this week, from 2008 to 2009, on average, the world’s internet got 13% faster. There are a lot of interesting tidbits that can be found in Akamai’s report, but the most interesting thing is that America’s internet got 2.4% slower.

The chart that you can see in the image shows the 10 countries with the fastest internet in the world. We can also notice that they aren’t slowing down at all. South Korea’s internet is already pumping at 14.6 Mbps (16% more than last year) and it is currently placed in the top of Akamai’s chart. Ireland’s internet is the second one, and increased its speed with 73% after improving their infrastructure.

If the internet in your country isn’t so fast, be thankful you don’t live on the Island of Mayotte (Indian Ocean), which is the slowest of the 203 nations tested.
